How to add video to an event listing

Updated: 30/07/15

  • You can add a video to "Event Details" section of your event page to help show attendees what to expect at your event. After uploading your video to YouTube or another video-sharing site, copy the link for the video, then go to your event's Edit page. Under Step 1: Event Details, access the "Event description" field, then select the filmstrip icon to embed the video to your event listing.
Note

Note: While you can add your own video directly to the event listing, we highly recommend uploading the video to another site like YouTube first, as most video files are too large to upload to Eventbrite.

1

Upload your video to a video-hosting site.

You can upload your video to a video-hosting website like Youtube, or choose a video that's already uploaded.

Upload is located in the upper right, next to your email address.

Note

Note: Any videos you use must be yours or adhere to Creative Common copyright licenses. Videezy are some great sites to find stock videos for unlimited use.

2

Copy the link for the video you want to insert.

Highlight and copy the link for the video you want displayed on your event listing.

Tip: Want to have your YouTube video automatically start playing on your event listing? All you have to do is enter autoplay=1 at the end of the video URL.

For example, the URL could be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbPcjwKH0HM?autoplay=1.

Pro Tip: Make sure to include the s in https:// when copying the video URL. This will help ensure that the video plays everywhere.

3

Go to your Edit page on Eventbrite.

After logging in to your Eventbrite account and creating an event, find your event on the My Events page, then select Edit.

Edit is under the event title and date/time on the My Events page.

Note

Note: If you have a repeating event, the video you add will appear on all of the events in your schedule.

4

Locate your "Event description" under Step 1: Event Details and select the filmstrip icon.

The filmstrip icon is located in the Event description toolbar. The video will be inserted wherever your cursor is placed.

The multi-media icon is farthest to the right on the toolbar in the Event description.

Tip: You can add images to your event listing by selecting the tree icon, then uploading the image from your computer.

Pro Tip: You can also select Add FAQs to add answers to common questions about the event or registering.

5

Use the "General" tab.

The General tab is selected by default at the top of the Insert/Edit Embedded Media window.

General is located in the top-left corner of the Insert/Edit Embedded Media window.

Note

Note: Don't upload iframes to Eventbrite because they won't display on the event page.

6

Paste the link and choose "Insert."

Copy and paste the link for your video into the File/URL field, then select Insert.

Insert is located in the bottom left corner of the Insert/Edit Embedded Media window.

7

You'll see your video inserted in the "Event description."

A video box won't be viewable in the event editor, but can be previewed on your event listing by choosing Design or View.

Your video will be inserted in the Event description box wherever your cursor is placed.

Tip: You can center or align the video by using the text-alignment buttons in the Event description toolbar after highlighting the video.

8

Check out your event listing.

Select View to go to your event listing. You'll see the video added in the Event Details section on your event listing.

Tip: Create a custom header and/or footer to liven up your event listing and mimic your own website!
